Dry-Land Training Facilities
When training on land, the Univesity of Illinois offers a wealth of facilities. Most of the dry-land training the Illini Crew does is at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) located directly North of Memorial Stadium. In addition to the ergometers (rowing machines) which form the backbone of the Winter training program, the gym has over 150 cardiovascular machines, nearly 150 strength training stations, a pool, indoor track, over a dozen full size basketball courts, fifteen racquetball and squash courts, and a rock climbing wall. These great facilities keep training varied and exciting while helping the team perform at top notch.
The Campus Recreation Center-East (CRCE) is another facility on campus with ergometers. This facility can help carry the ergometer load during the winter months and also provide a nearby training facility for students living in the South-East corner of campus. Both facilities are run by Campus Recreation which works along with Club Sports programs, like Illini Rowing, to help those teams reach as wide a demographic on campus and excel in competitions around the country.
