The straight, 2000 meter course will contain six fully buoyed lanes - with buoys every 15m and distance markers every 500m. The course is on a protected region of the lake, and we have arranged for the official regatta boats to be the only motor boats operating in the area. The surrounding area offers great views of the course, and the finish line is clearly visible from the launching site and main regatta area. Medals will be awarded to winners, as well as a points trophy for crews from within the State of Illinois.
The race date was specifically chosen to accommodate crews who are too far North to travel to Tennessee for SIRA's. We have also scheduled our regatta with the MACRAs in mind, which falls on the following weekend. Hopefully, you will be able to make our regatta a fixture in your Spring season schedules.

Entry fees for this race will be on a per athlete basis (coxswains excluded). There is a flat $8 entry fee per athlete, regardless of the number of events they race. The day will comprise a lot of racing, and may very well include morning heats with afternoon finals. That said, you are welcome to boat your athletes as often as hot seating allows. Entry fees will go towards covering officials' expenses and medals. We are working to secure sponsorships for the event to cover capital expenditures and infrastructure for this regatta. We are also actively working with vendors to make sure we have food and merchandise available for athletes and fans.

The day will offer a great number of races to watch. The main regatta area offers excellent vantage points of the entire lake, specifically the finish line. Racing will go off every 10-15 minutes, meaning there will always be some excitement to watch. The course also makes for great photo opportunities, and we encourage all photographers to take advantage of the venue and its great vistas.
The venue will have food and merchandise vendors, and portable bathrooms will be available for use. This combined with no cost of entry for spectators makes this a perfect venue for watching an afternoon of racing.
